What are counter-belief systems?

A counter-belief system is a religion that counters (contradicts / completely the opposite) another religion. The main counter-belief systems around the globe are the following:

- Voodoo: "Too bad you can't buy a voodoo globe so that you could make the earth spin real fast and freak everybody out"

Voodoo is a spiritual tradition that originated in West Africa, which came to the New World by the importation of African slaves. West African Vodun is the original form of this religion; Haitian Vodou and Louisiana Voodoo are its descendants in the New World. Voodoo followers believe in spirits and in the devil.

- Atheism: "I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time"

Atheism, as an explicit position, can be either the affirmation of the nonexcistence of gods, or the rejection of theism (belief in the existence of one or more divinities). Atheism is not considered a religion but the absence of a belief.

Many atheists are skeptical of all supernatural beings and enforce that there is a total lack of evidence for the existance of deities. The term atheism originated as a tag applied to any person or belief that had conflict with a established religion.

- Satanism: "Satan said with a sigh: Christians know more about their hell than I"

Satanism can refer to a number of belief system and practices depending on the person. Common use of the words 'Satanism' refers to the worship of Satan as described in the Christian Bible. Furthermore the addition of -ism to the word is used by some groups to define the act or practice of magical rituals in relation with Satan.

- Yoga: "Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured"

Yoga is a group of ancient spiritual practices created for the sole purpose of cultivating a steady mind. It began in India around 3300 BCE. A practitioner of Yoga is called Yogi or Yogini.

Outside India Yoga is mostly associated with the practice of Asanas (body postures) or as a form of excercise. Yoga has been defined as "technologies or disciplines of living life without various sorts of wordly pleasures and meditation which are thought to lead to unique spiritual experiences"

- White magic: "Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen"

White magic, sometimes known as good sorcery, is a conceptual system that asserts human ability to control the natural world (including events, objects, people and physical phenomena) through mystical, paranormal or supernatural means.

The term may also refer to the practices employed by a person asserting this influence, and to explain various events and phenomena in such terms. In some cultures, white magic is obligatory, and in competition with, scientific and religious conceptual systems.
